Friends of the Earth Denmark and Airship arrange a meeting on

Climate Regulation of Aviation

  Monday 8 January 2007, 13.00-17.00
Trekanten, Kalvebod Brygge 45, Copenhagen

Aviation is a considerable and fast growing environmental problem and the Danes are among those who fly the most. The meeting clarified different stakeholders position towards climate regulation of aviation. Regulation can be done by including aviation in the existing Emission Trading Scheme of the EU or by establishing a separate system for aviation and/or kerosene taxation. During 2006 the European Commission prepared a legislative proposal in order to include aviation in the common battle for avoiding greater global temperature increases than 2 degrees. The discussion about the proposal and the lobby work to influence the final decision have already taken off. The meeting put this discussion into a Danish perspective.
